My work as a forensic mortgage analyst

From 2009 to about 2013 I worked as a private coach to homeowners who were fighting banks in court over their exploding mortgages and the foreclosure of their homes. Many of these loans were “securitized” meaning they were sold to Wall Street firms who packaged them, sliced them up and sold the slices as equities to pension funds. Many of these loans were low quality and often had balloon riders that exploded after 3-5 years. It was discovered and became well known that the process of securitization was often faulty and sometimes outright fraudulent. Some homeowners decided to sue the banks knowing their their loans were involved in faulty mortgage securities trusts, hoping to gain leverage for negotiation.

I got involved in this cause when a friend hired me to research his own loan. I had some personal experience researching credit card debt relief and court procedures, but when I began finding evidence of outright fraud connected to securitized home loans, I got hooked and dedicated thousands of hours over several years studying the subject. I ran a website called foreclosurediscovery.net (now off line) and I coached hundreds of homeowners and many attorneys in those years. Here is a small sampling the type of work I did.
