My name is Colin E. Davis (b. 1969). I am a multi-disciplinary artist and thinker who has dedicated over two decades to understanding and practicing psycho-spiritual healing.
I am in private practice in Buda, Texas.
A major area of my research and counseling work is the shadow of the psyche and shadow work practices. I am a natural Jungian.
I have written two books on shadow work and inner healing from a “red pilled” perspective: Transforming Darkness - A Shadow Work Toolkit for the Red Pilled Initiate (2024) and Shadow Tech - Cracking the Codes of Personal and Collective Darkness (2015).
(You can get them on Amazon or download a free PDF of Transforming Darkness here.)
I have been working on myself consciously in some form for my entire adult life. My childhood was difficult and I became aware early on that I was somewhat neurotic and that I was “getting in my own way”. I was journaling out my issues when I was a teenager and I experimented with several psycho-spiritual approaches including Eastern modalities in my 20’s. I was later introduced to Carl Jung’s ideas through a friend who had personally known a famous Jungian named Robert A. Johnson. Through his books, I became initiated into the Jungian “way”, and from there I studied the work of several other Jungians. The first book by Johnson I read was “Owning Your Own Shadow” which I took to heart after falling into my own “dark night of the soul” at age 35. From there, my orientation and focus became the so-called shadow of the psyche and inner healing through shadow work.
My private counseling career formally began in 2009 when I worked as a legal analyst helping homeowners and their attorneys litigate foreclosure cases after the 2008 financial crisis. This type of work naturally touched on personal and family difficulties. Then as my personal inner work and psycho-spiritual studies deepened (especially as my partner Mari entered my “field” in 2012), my counseling increasingly became oriented towards psychotherapy.
I did not take an academic approach to education, but rather a self directed one using my own personal and relational psyche for testing and proving results, then later, that of my clients. I firmly believe that knowledge of the psyche and psychotherapy must mainly come from personal inner work (alone and in relationship) and that no formal education or license can do that for you. That said, I clearly recognize the usefulness of an academic approach as an avenue for pursuing knowledge for those who are so-inclined.
I am not licensed by any state or professional society. There is nothing “dangerous” that I do that would require such a license or insurance. I do not prescribe drugs or give “medical advice”. I am also rather disgusted with the ineffectiveness (and true dangers) of mainstream medicine and mental health care in America today. My clients usually share this opinion with me. My personal recommendation to people who are looking for counseling is not to look on a list given to them by their health care provider, but to use the internet to seek out an experienced Jungian near them.
